Grace Colvin would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Tuesday, driving in five on three hits to lead Jasper Wildcats past Mt. Carmel 14-4 on Tuesday. Colvin drove in runs on a double in the first, a in the second, a double in the fifth, and a walk in the fifth.
Jasper Wildcats earned the victory despite allowing Mt. Carmel to score four runs in the first inning. Mt. Carmel’s big inning was driven by singles by Faith Fuller and Mackenzie Sisson and an error on a ball put in play by Avery Daum.
Mt. Carmel got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run for Mt. Carmel.
Jasper Wildcats evened things up at four in the bottom of the first inning when Rachel Gress singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Jasper Wildcats pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second a sacrifice bunt by Colvin scored one run for Jasper Wildcats .
Jasper Wildcats tallied seven runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by Jasper Wildcats was led by Colvin, Kennedy Matheis, Halli Leinenbach, Emily Heim, and Colvin, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Mia Werner earned the win for Jasper Wildcats . She allowed three hits and four runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Fuller took the loss for Mt. Carmel. She went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs on 17 hits and striking out two.
Jasper Wildcats collected 17 hits. Heim, Colvin, Taylor Mitchell, Matheis, and Werner all managed multiple hits for Jasper Wildcats . Mitchell, Colvin, and Heim each managed three hits to lead Jasper Wildcats .
