Jasper Wildcats lost the lead late in a 6-3 defeat to Boonville on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Boonville batting in the bottom of the sixth when Randi Pryor doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Jasper Wildcats got things started in the first inning when Mia Werner hit a solo homer.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Boonville tied things up at three when Courtney Knight singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Ariel Thomasson pitched Boonville to victory. She surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Grace Colvin took the loss for Jasper Wildcats . She allowed two hits and three runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Werner started the game for Jasper Wildcats . She allowed nine hits and three runs over four and a third innings, striking out three and walking one
Jasper Wildcats launched two home runs on the day. Colvin had a long ball in the third inning. Werner went for the long ball in the first inning.
Colvin led Jasper Wildcats with two hits in three at bats.
Boonville totaled 11 hits in the game. Brooke Allen, Knight, and Pryor all managed multiple hits for Boonville. Allen went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Boonville in hits. Boonville was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Pryor made the most plays with seven.
